In order to even post I had to give this organization a star,I didn't want to do that for the record. A very close friend of mine had been incarcerated by Floyd County , Floyd Va.Judge Long. The short story goes- I had taken a plea on a thief charge. I was convicted. Because I rented this woman land she was also convicted. I stated her non involvement, I provided receipts showing I bought the Items and she had nothing to do with the charge/ incident. My friend was unfortunately advised by a local attorney she had to take a plea. She served 8 months in jail with no priors (myself either) and then judge long also sentenced her to a very extensive drug rehab program called Stepping stones ( and she never had a drug charge in her life). She lost everything her home and possessions, medical license's and her health while in NRVRJ. After serving her time ,she did as the court ordered and went to an intake interview with the Stepping Stones org. She did NOT meet criteria! They would not take her in because the counselor was afraid of being sued for malpractice. Think about this - not arrested for drugs but ordered to Stepping Stones. His authority is amazing and VREY SCARY. Judge long excused her rehab with no apology , to her or the county people the waste of money and time... (Oh and this is his drug program and his baby if you know what I mean , so he has to meet his criteria for these programs to look good!) While her first agenda after being released was to continue her medical care for lupus and a heart condition , which unfortunately got ahead of her because of the lack of medical care in the New River Valley Regional Jail (NRVRJ). Thats another issue. My point of the review is Floyd County needs body cameras. Floyd County needs help with there officers and civilian engagement. Other counties are following these necessary leads. She beat the drug charge after being released because the drug counselors and probation stated she didn't meet the criteria , and being told that if she was court ordered to partake it would be malpractice and no counselor wanted involvement in that. SO- I ask Floyd County Why? Why is your long arm of the law so wrong and incorrect. Id be happy to provide the sherriff dept with some body cameras, I even asked and was told "don't go there" I felt a bit threatened!. The local lawyer even said in a laughing way good luck with that, it was also a election month when we where both convicted and that same local lawyer said PLEA there out for convictions because of election season. I have since then sat in on other people charged with my same charge, do my dismay they did not receive the harsh sentence I did and they had priors and I mean priors. I have since left the state and Floyd because I felt so unsafe and was harassed by the local Sheriff's , pulled over etc. Judge Long will soon realize whats going on and what he's doing wrong and so hopefully will the sheriff dept. They are loosing good people esp. over the intense long sentences over pot charges. Floyd count is failing its people and in the sheriff dept. The things I heard and the way they talked while I was being held in the jail , there in its self is another story and disturbing (it was a domestic violence call by a women) They all laughed at the women who called said she was nuts did not dispatch anyone because they did not believe her. Citizens be careful and stand up for what they did wrong to you and voice your opinions. The two of us are not done with the issues of Floyd or the NRVRJ ...
